Joining The Board Of Trade
Joining the Allston Board of Trade is an easy decision if you want to get involved in the neighborhood, make a difference locally, or just stay informed about local issues, news, zonings, neighborhood matters and more. Whether or not you attend meetings or join a committee, your dues are valuable tax-free contributions to a great local organiation that has been making a positive difference in Allston for more than 70 years and is still going strong.
If, like many of us, you do want to get involved we recommend attending our monthly Board of Directors meetings. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month at noon at different local restaurants and review an agenda that includes short reports on financials, membership, neighborhood affairs, scholarship committee, AVMS and CDC activities, Police and utility announcements, institutional updates, openings/closings, variances and much more.
Next, we suggest you join one of our three main sub-committes, which are small groups of members working together on important projects such as investigating the garbage problem, identifying and working against graffiti and vandalism, bringing value-added programs to our members, hosting networking events and much more. These committees also meet once per month for 2 hours each and are a great way to make a difference while having fun working with other like-minded, dedicated local people
It's fun, it doesn't take a lot of time, and we really can make a positive difference together. Please join us, and I hope you find the experience of civic volunteerism as rewarding as we continue to find it.
